MumToMum

Look, let me be honest here. I've been married now for - yikes! - almost 15 years. And every year, come the end of January, I start to get a bit narky.

You see, Valentine's Day is rearing it's head again. And, well, once you've got over the first bloom of all things raunchy (eg, edible knickers, penis-shaped pasta, etc) it starts to get a bit tricky about what to get. You know, you still love him and all that blah blah, it's just that he'd probably think you were a nutter if you gave him a heart shaped cushion - or get frankly nervous if you gave him a whip with a feather on the end.

It seems the shops are of the opinion that we either want to constantly ravage our OHs - or that we "weely, weely wuv dem". Shudder.

So you resign yourself to the age-old favourite standbys such as chocolate. Heart shaped. With his name on. From Thorntons. I've done this before haven't I...?

Well, I've been trying recently to help out some of you by putting together some ideas that you could try this year that you might not have thought about before. Hope they help: http://photofairytales.co.uk/Valentine.aspx (I will just warn you, there is a cuddly bear on there, but only to add balance to an otherwise quite calm, loving and thoughtful range of ideas!).

Now, because I feel it's a little naff to buy my own OH something from my own website, I'm still utterly stumped - so if you have any suggestions I'd be very grateful. Oh, and budget wise think Tesco rather than Tiffany, OK?

Oh Tracey, that's sad (or good, depending of course...!). I guess the silver lining is that at least you won't be getting any nipple twirlies - or a "romantic" new ironing board - or a card with the price still left on it (which I usually get - the card I mean!).

But hey, you DO have someone to buy for - you! Buy yourself something totally and completely girly - something you just know he would have hated in the house - and revel in it!!
